2024 Planting update
Rainfall has been very abundant this year and moisture has not been an issue on many European and UK fields. Some areas could have benefited from a little more sun and higher temperatures to further stimulate rhizome growth, but overall conditions have been good.
We will be visiting our new growers in the coming days and weeks to check on their establishment success. Measurements this year so far show that the average establishment for the Athena (TM) genotype of Miscanthus (number of rhizomes emerged to number of rhizomes planted) is 86.2% and in many cases higher. Weed control is now essential to keep up the good work.

2024 Planting update
We’re over 70% through Terravest Athena TM planting as we move toward the end of May, and conditions have been good so far, with good soil moisture levels, followed by rain.
This year planting preparation has been slightly different, and we have made more soil cultivations to ensure faster establishment, and we’re pleased to report that the new crop are racing away with fast emergence already (knee-high already after 3 weeks).

Meet us in person at Agromek in Denmark.
26. – 29. November 2024 / MCH Messecenter Herning
Agromek is Northern Europe’s largest agricultural exhibition. For decades it has been the industry’s hub for networking, innovation and knowledge exchange.
Harvest 2024 ongoing.
In some parts of Europe, the weather has improved to the point where it is safe to take machinery into the fields and cut the scenesced Miscanthus crop. This year’s harvest is above average and certainly much better than last year.
After cutting, the crop will remain in the swath and dry out to a moisture content (MC) of between 10-14%. Right after, the balers are brought in to bale the crop into 8×4×4 or 8×4×3 foot bales (2.5×1.3×1.2 or 2.5×1.3×0.9 metres) averaging 550 kg each.
After a delayed start to harvest, we’re happy to report that it’s well underway, and baling declarations have started coming in over the HarvestHub login.

We know it’s tough out there and we want to reassure you that there is still time to get harvest done. Please give us a call if you have any concerns (contact us here).
