Terravesta’s recent growers’ meetings enjoyed great popularity with farmers, who came from across the country throughout December to discuss the future of the ‘miracle energy crop.’ Attendees had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with experts from the team, share specific queries and benefit from professional advice on all aspects of successful Miscanthus growing and harvesting.
William Cracroft-Eley, Terravesta chairman, says: “As a Miscanthus grower myself – having first planted in the 2006/7 season – I know the value of meeting other growers and sharing information about the day-to-day of Miscanthus growing. We decided regional meetings would present the perfect opportunity for our growers to meet each other face-to-face, share their experiences and have their questions answered – and we were delighted they were received so well by everyone who attended.”
Each of the four half-day sessions included presentations from existing growers sharing best practice, as well as background context on the growth of the current UK Miscanthus market. Attendees were also given an overview of the results from the 2012 season, as well as a look forward at prospects and pricing for 2013.
Cracroft-Eley continues: “At Terravesta, we know Miscanthus has a great future in the UK as an energy crop. We’ve seen a strong 2012 and are looking forward to even further market growth in 2013 – especially given the huge potential the crop has as a biomass resource and the high demand for Miscanthus in a variety of formats from power generators.
“With this in mind, we’re keen to encourage longer-term relationships with growers. We have 10-year index-linked (RPIX) contracts which offer a very attractive and guaranteed return. There has never been a better time to be involved in Miscanthus supply.”
