Michael Squance – new head of IT development

While studying for his PhD in computational modelling of miscanthus, Michael worked alongside Terravesta as part of the GIANT LINK programme. Upon completion, he worked for two years as a computational biologist in the miscanthus breeding team at Aberystwyth, and took over the development of the database that managed the team’s miscanthus data.

Michael has recently moved to Sandbach near Crewe with his partner and will travel to the office one day a week and work from home for the other four days.

“My role is split into two halves. I’ll be working closely with Michal Mos, developing tools to manage the scientific data from the breeding trials. I’ll also be teamed up with Alex Robinson to help manage and develop IT systems for the operational and grower based side of the business,” says Michael.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the team to develop systems to make processes easier using IT, and I really enjoy working with scientific data,” he adds.

Andrzej Matyjewski – manager for Poland and Eastern Europe

Andrzej joins the Terravesta team after working in the agricultural biofuels sector for over ten years and he’s also educated in biotechnical engineering.

Day to day, Andrzej’s role will see him delivering high quality, sustainable and traceable feedstocks and maintaining a robust miscanthus supply chain between Eastern Europe and the UK.

“I’m mostly based in Poland but I’ll frequently be in the UK working closely with the team. I’m really looking forward to combining the business knowledge from the two different countries to further develop supply chains.”

We’re very pleased to have two brilliant new staff members to get the New Year off to a flying start. Welcome to the team Michael and Andrzej!
