Jacob is passionate about the environment, with a particular interest in renewable energy.
Nearing the completion of his degree in BSc Geography, he’s well versed in all variables that contribute to the diverse ecology of our landscape, such as energy crops like miscanthus. BSc Geography is the physical branch of natural science dealing with the study of processes and patterns in the natural environment.
And renewable energy has played a significant part in his degree, because he’s completed a dissertation on mapping the potential to produce biodiesel from algae in Hawaii.
Jacob is working closely with Alex Robinson, Terravesta’s business development manager, on all aspects of the business, from working with growers, developing market opportunities, running marketing campaigns, helping out with events and managing social media activity. He’s enthusiastic about working alongside a group of people who are pioneers in energy crops.
“I like the initiative shown by the company, and its business model. The team is passionate about the crop, and its growers, and they’re making waves in both the farming industry and renewable energy industry.
“I’m mostly looking forward to touring the country and interacting with growers, and hopefully developing as the company grows,” he says.
To compliment his interest in the great outdoors, Jacob has qualifications in sailing instruction, and has worked as a water sports instructor, often for corporate team building and school outings. So he’s used to organising groups of people, which will come in handy on our farm walks!
Jacob is working part-time while he finishes his degree, and we’re looking forward to him joining us full time in June this year.
