This was our third year exhibiting at Cereals, and we are delighted to say that it was our most successful to date. As well as the beautiful weather, our stand was a hive of activity, with plenty of footfall from farmers interested in the Miscanthus opportunity. It was great to see so many new faces (and lots of familiar ones) as visitors came along to chat to our expert team of “Miscanthus people” – or simply to find out more about the seven-foot-tall plants surrounding the stand!
With many farmers thinking about their 2015 cropping plan, the show came at the perfect time for visitors to learn about the bespoke benefits of planting Miscanthus – in particular how the energy crop can help de-marginalise their problem fields. With increasing price volatility in the combinable crops market driving the search for a more secure arable solution, the team was also able to explain Terravesta’s unique position – offering growers the security of long-term contracts with fixed prices.
Cereals was also a chance for growers to hear from the experts pioneering important research into establishment techniques and processes that will shape the Miscanthus landscape in the years to come. As part of this, we welcomed experts from Aberystwyth University onto the stand to meet with visitors and share their insight on the important work they are doing to develop the long-term Miscanthus market.
The level of interest in the crop at the show (and since) has been staggering, and it remains clear that the future for Miscanthus as the UK’s home-grown energy crop burns incredibly bright. The entire Terravesta team would like to thank everyone who came along to the stand for making it such a successful show – we are looking forward to 2015!
