An event hosted by ‘Perennial Biomass Crops for Greenhouse Gas Removal’ (PBC4GGR) for farmers in the Midlands, is taking place on Wednesday 28th February 2024 at the RASE Centre, 6th Street, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth CV8 2LG.
Entitled ‘Growing Perennial Biomass Crops in the Midlands: Benefits and Impacts’, it’s free to attend and there is a £50 gift voucher on offer for local farmers who come along.
The workshop is for those concerned with land use management in the area and will discuss how Miscanthus and willow can diversify farm incomes and improve carbon storage, flood mitigation and biodiversity in certain settings.
The event will interrogate how the recommendations to increase biomass planting to meet UK carbon targets have implications for farmers, providing information about the benefits and impacts of these crops to farmers and stakeholders.
The workshop will present and seek feedback on:
- The latest scientific evidence about the benefits & impacts of these crops
- Local examples showing where best to grow these crops to optimise benefits and minimise impacts
- Estimates of potential crop yields & income
