Norfolk farm walk success

Thank you to all who attended our Norfolk Miscanthus farm walks and Snetterton Power Station tours this May. We had a great turnout from farmers who had clearly done their research – asking fantastic questions!

Bill Lewis farm walk

Bill and his son Tom Lewis welcomed visitors eager to see their Miscanthus crop and learn more about growing it, on 15th May. They went above and beyond to provide the perfect space in the barn among the recently harvested Miscanthus bales, managed the parking, and ferried visitors to and from the Miscanthus fields.

Special thanks also go to the co-hosts from the AF Group, NIAB, our Miscanthus contractor Graham Watts, Dr. Mary Dimambro from Cambridge Eco, and Rob Wood and Bill Griffith from Melton Renewable Energy.

Guests learned not only about Miscanthus farming, but also ways to access funding, SFI guidance, and an overview of the CHCx3 project run by NIAB.

The talks were followed by a visit to the Miscanthus crop, where Bill Lewis answered questions about growing it, followed by lunch, and a Snetterton Power Station Tour.

Andrew Thornton farm walk

The following day, our gracious host, Andrew, joined us on the wettest farm walk we have ever had! We huddled under the gazebo in the field and discussed how Andrew’s crop provides a reliable long-term income, then headed for some lunch and a power station tour.

If you would like to join us on a future farm walk, visit our events page which is updated regularly with upcoming opportunities to learn more about Miscanthus farming.
