The field visit and information day held on 28th September 2017, will give Welsh growers the opportunity to visit commercial and research scale Miscanthus plantations in mid-Wales, with talks by Aberystwyth scientists and the Terravesta team.
Helen Minnice-Smith, senior agriculture and climate change policy advisor for the Welsh Government, will also be in attendance to help answer questions.
Order of the day:
The event will start from IBERS (Gogerddan campus) at 09:30 on the 28th September 2017.
Transport will be provided, and pick up from Aberystwyth train station can be arranged if required.
There will be visits to a six-hectare Miscanthus field, and we will then head to Pwllpeiran Upland Research Centre for lunch and talks around Miscanthus market development and economics.
The Terravesta team will be on-hand to answer questions around establishment costs, market opportunities and growers’ contracts.
We will then visit some upland trial sites, and return to Gogerddan, and the train station if required.
