Harvesting Begins

While the Terravesta team has had a busy couple of days at the Energy Now Expo in Telford, two windy drying days was enough to get started with harvesting Flagleaf Farming’s Miscanthus. Last week local contractor Tim Russon made quick progress cutting about 44 ha, before heavy rain stopped play at lunchtime on Friday with about 18 ha left to cut.

The lower stems are still quite green, so I don’t expect to see the baler before March. Despite the wet weather, the forage harvester has left very little impact, and seems to have carried well on the mulch mat of leaf and crop residues from previous years.

Thank you to all who came to see us at Energy Now Expo. It was a great show and a busy two days with a lot of new interest in both Terravesta and this remarkable crop.
