Terravesta has welcomed agronomist and Miscanthus expert Andy Lee to its team as Farms Advisory Manager. Andy’s new role will see him assisting growers, offering bespoke advice on how to get the most out of their crop, whilst working closely with the team to help meet future planting targets.
With a long-established agriculture career, Andy discovered Miscanthus eight years ago – and has been working with the crop ever since, both in the UK and across the rest of Europe. “I make it my business to know all there is to know about Miscanthus,” says Andy. “I’m excited to be joining a company that sees the true potential for the crop and shares my commitment to building a strong future for it.
“In my new role, I get to be out in the field doing what I do best – drawing on my own experiences so growers can get the best results from their crop,” says Andy. “I’ll be looking at ‘what’, ‘where’ and ‘how’ farms can benefit and providing one-to-one advice on how to achieve strong yields and profits.”
With the Committee for Climate Change identifying a potential for 350,000 hectares of suitable Miscanthus land nationwide – or 6% of every UK farm – Andy’s role will also be central to helping Terravesta achieve future planting goals. What’s more, in addition to his influential grower-facing work, he will also be overseeing future planting trials, captaining the development of new farming techniques and processes.
George Robinson, Managing Director at Terravesta, adds: “As the leading Miscanthus advisor for growers in the UK, we’re thrilled to welcome Andy to the team at what is an incredibly exciting time, both for Terravesta and for the crop itself. Andy has formed a big part of the Miscanthus story so far, so we’re extremely fortunate to have him with us as we build an even brighter future for the crop. With him on board, Terravesta is now in an even better position to support both new and existing growers – which is central to everything we do.”
